A Message from our Board of Directors

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

Dear CLC YMCA Members and Friends,
Happy New Year! !

A season of change starts here at the CLC YMCA
...beginning with this comprehensive Winter Program Guide which includes  Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility programs from Damariscotta to Waldoboro.

If you haven't already, you will notice fresh coats of paint brighten the walls of our Y with more to come. The main entry and lobby area are next up for a new look that is warm and inviting to members and program participants.

Program expansion for members of all ages.  Please take a look under the Healthy Living section of this guide. We have listened and are offering a plethora of new classes - at different times of the day and week - along with the popular classes we have offered for years. Class times accommodate working families as well as those looking for a change in their day to day routine. There is something for everyone at our Y!

We invite all Y members to bring their friends to the Y. If they take out a membership during the month of January they can enjoy taking classes in January without paying the monthly class fee. You heard it here...
we will waive the monthly class fee for Group Exercise Classes for the month of January for any new members who join in January 2015!  This does not include specialty classes that have a separate fee associated with them.

Be on the look out for a few pieces of NEW cardio equipment for you to try out in January.  The pieces will be located in the lobby outside of the tennis court area.  Currently, we are working with two fitness companies and are asking for member input on the design you like best. The hope is to begin leasing cardio equipment which will be replaced with new equipment every three to four years. Your input on design is one of the tools we will use when choosing a brand.

The Y will host an Annual Meeting in April!  Date, time and location to be determined.  The Annual Meeting will be the kick-off for the Y's Annual Fund Drive, a recognition for key staff and volunteers and a fun event which all members, donors, staff and volunteers are encouraged to attend.

Families in Waldoboro will enjoy a new after school program at the Miller School. Children ages Pre K through 6th grade can enroll in our state licensed program complete with a healthy snack, physical activity, homework time and arts and crafts daily. Adult YMCA classes are offered as well at the Old #9 building in Waldoboro. Choose from Yoga, ZUMBA, Illustration Class and Dance.
If that is not enough, the staff and board members - in unison -are working on a plan.  A Real Time Strategic Plan, that is...for the direction of the CLC Y!  The planning process will commence at the beginning of January 2015.  By the end of March 2015, the board will vote on a final plan.  From there, staff will create the road map as to how the plan will be implemented for the entire organization.  From here, the possibilities are endless!

Looking forward to a bright, healthy 2015 for our members, participants, volunteers and for our Y! !!
My best,
Meagan G. Hamblett
CEO, CLC YMCA
